Russia is a crime syndicate in the guise of a state. On February 22, an international cocaine trafficking operation of the Putin-Kremlin mafia was busted in Argentina. 389 kilograms of cocaine, with a street value of $60 million, was seized from a school on the grounds of the Russian embassy in Buenos Aires. This is a stunning revelation of the way in which Russia uses criminal enterprises to enrich Putin and the narrow circle of oligarchs around him, as well as finance Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
Argentinian authorities arrested a former Russian embassy staffer and an Argentinian police officer on February 22. The Minister of Security of Argentina, Patricia Bullrich, announced that an investigation lasting 14 months had revealed an international drug operation involving people in Argentina, Russia, and Germany. A total of six people have been arrested so far in the investigation.
The cocaine was discovered at the Russian embassy in Buenos Aires in December 2016. To track the wider conspiracy, Argentinian border guards deceived the alleged drug traffickers into revealing the total route of shipment by replacing the cocaine with flour, fitting the suitcases it was contained in with tracking devices, and allowing the shipment to continue. In this way, they tracked the cocaine-replaced-with-flour to Russia in December 2017, on an official Russian plane.
Russia has been caught red-handed trafficking in cocaine. This week, the Russian crime syndicate was also caught red-handed cheating at sports. Russian curler Alexander Krushelnitsky admitted doping and was stripped of a bronze medal at the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang after testing positive for the banned drug meldonium. Russian criminality has all but destroyed the Olympic movement after Russian athletes were bizarrely allowed to compete by the International Olympic Committee despite Russia being banned as a country for organized cheating via doping for many years.
Also this week, the Mueller investigation in the US is closing in on the Putin-Kremlin crime. Alex van der Zwaan, a 33 year old lawyer, pled guilty on February 20 to lying to US federal authorities about ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. van der Zwaan is the son-in-law of German Khan, a Russian oligarch tied up with Alfa Bank, which is an intermediary between Russians and people in the Trump circle. Mueller charged 13 Russians connected to the Internet Research Agency, an arm of Russia’s intelligence services which carried out a disinformation operation to falsify the US election of 2016.
Nobody who understands the nature of Russia under Putin is surprised at news of cocaine trafficking out of a Russian embassy. The country of Russia is inherently criminal by its nature. At war with the West – foremost with Ukraine – Russia commits every crime to enrich Putin and the oligarchs and destroy free and independent people everywhere. Murder, kidnapping, torture, fraud, money laundering, libel are well known crimes of the Putin-Kremlin crime syndicate. Add drug trafficking to the list of criminal charges against Russia.
